5.3-magnitude quake hits Taiwan: CENC

BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- A 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolted sea area off Taiwan's Hualien County at 2:49 a.m. Saturday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 24.21 degrees north latitude and 121.77 degrees east longitude. The earthquake struck at a depth of 27 km, the center said.
