Taiwan reports 10th imported Zika case

TAIPEI, Oct. 9 -- A woman who traveled to Malaysia with a tour group in late September was confirmed to have been infected with the Zika virus, Taiwan's center for disease control said Sunday.

It is the tenth case of imported Zika virus infection in Taiwan, according to the center.

The woman, who is about 50, developed symptoms including a headache, rashes and muscle aches on Oct. 5 and sought medical assistance the next day after developing a fever, according to the center, which added the woman has been asked to prevent mosquito bites and isolate herself until Oct. 16.

It was determined that the woman became infected with the virus in Malaysia, according to the center. The local health authority has implemented various prevention measures and will continue to monitor the health of the other 71 members of the same tour group until Oct. 10, it added.

None of the woman's contacts, including her family members and colleagues, have developed symptoms, according to the center.
