TAIPEI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan has added 109 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 107 local infections, to its tally, as well as 11 new deaths from the disease, the island's disease-monitoring agency said Sunday in a daily update.

As of Saturday, 67 people had died after receiving AstraZeneca vaccines in Taiwan, undermining the public's willingness to get vaccinated.

There were no established links between receiving vaccines and these deaths, the agency said, calling on people aged over 75 to get jabs as soon as possible.

As of Saturday, 1.48 million people, or 6.4 percent of the island's population, had gotten at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose.

The total number of confirmed cases on the island has risen to 14,005, including 12,787 locally transmitted cases. A total of 549 deaths have been recorded, the agency said. Enditem
