Mainland investment in Taiwan drops in Jan-Oct
TAIPEI, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan approved 32 investment projects from the Chinese mainland from January to October this year, a year-on-year decrease of 61.45 percent, while approved investment volume dropped 66.68 percent year on year to 41.3 million U.S. dollars, the island's economic affairs department has said.
The department attributed the decrease to the cross-Strait situation, the changes in the global economic and trade situation, and the revised investment permits for mainland businesses.
Since the island opened its door to mainland investors on June 30, 2009, Taiwan has approved 1,493 investment projects from the mainland involving 2.45 billion U.S. dollars, according to the economic affairs department.
As for the investment projects in the mainland by Taiwan enterprises, 349 applications were approved in the first 10 months of this year, indicating a year-on-year decrease of 9.82 percent, with investment amount hitting 4.31 billion U.S. dollars, down 8.6 percent compared with the same period in 2020.
