CCG continues law enforcement patrols east of Taiwan Island
The China Coast Guard is continuing routine law enforcement patrols in waters east of Taiwan Island with its Xiushan vessel formation taking over operations from the Daishan formation, a spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.
Jiang Lue, a spokesman for the China Coast Guard, said the Daishan formation had been operating in those waters since June, carrying out patrols, identity checks, fishery protection and rescue missions. The operations were aimed at ensuring normal navigation and working order, as well as safeguarding the lawful rights, interests and the safety of life and property of Chinese fishermen, including compatriots in Taiwan.
He added that the China Coast Guard will continue to strengthen law enforcement patrols in waters under China's jurisdiction and resolutely safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
