Oct 13(Taiwan.cn)—In the golden autumn of Yongcheng (Nanning), Guangxi and Taiwan will write a new chapter in cooperation. The 22nd Guangxi-Taiwan Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation Forum is scheduled to take place in Nanning, Guangxi, from October 19 to 21, 2026. With the theme “Empowering a New Era through Digital Intelligence, Forging a Future via Guangxi-Taiwan Integrated Development,” the forum will be co-hosted by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
The forum will be held at a time when the Pinglu Canal has been officially completed and opened to navigation, and a series of events commemorating the 160th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birth are underway. The full opening of the Pinglu Canal has turned the century-old vision of river-sea transportation laid out in Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s The International Development of China—connecting rivers to the sea and enabling integrated river-ocean shipping—from a blueprint into reality. Currently, Guangxi is accelerating the development of ten modern pillar industries. Following a path of digitalization, green development, and integration, it is leveraging artificial intelligence as a core driver to advance industrial transformation and upgrading. Meanwhile, Guangxi has rolled out systematic measures for its marine economy, ushering in a new phase of building strength through marine development and pursuing opening-up and growth. These development opportunities not only open up broad new space for Guangxi’s high-quality development but also inject strong momentum into exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi and Taiwan.
The forum will feature an opening plenary session and two parallel thematic sub-forums: “Development Paths and Practices of Artificial Intelligence in Guangxi and Taiwan” and “Building a New Ecosystem for the Guangxi-Taiwan Marine Economy through River-Sea Coordination.” Taking digital and intelligent industries as the link and the Pinglu Canal as an open platform, participants from Guangxi and Taiwan will conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions on key areas of cooperation, including electronic information technology, artificial intelligence, port logistics, and marine fisheries, jointly exploring new paths for mutually beneficial cooperation.
