TAIPEI -- Taiwan's aviation authority ordered stricter cockpit regulations from Monday following reports that the co-pilot of Germanwings Flight 9525 appeared to deliberately crash, killing all 150 aboard.
Air carriers in the island are required to have at least two crew members in the cockpit at all times, one of whom must be a pilot, according to the revised safety guideline.
The new regulation came after investigators blamed Andreas Lubitz, the co-pilot, for locking the captain out of the cockpit and crashing the plane directly into a mountain.
Airlines must immediately adopt the new safety standards, according to the aviation regulatory agency.
Before the revised guideline, some airlines in the island had voluntarily introduced such measures.
