Eric Chu held a press conference after his meeting with Communist Party General Secretary Xi earlier in the day. He has called communication among cross-Strait parties essential to building a stronger bond.
"The relationship between the Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang is not the same as cross-Strait relations. And of course the cross-Strait relationship is not the same as the relationship between the two groups. But the relationship between the Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang is significant to cross-Strait relations. And communication between the two parties contributes to cross-Strait relations. We welcome all cross-Strait parties and communities to communicate with each other in a positive way to be responsible to our people and future generations, as well as to history," he said.
