Taiwan is also showing an interest in the AIIB. Its finance chief Chang Sheng-ford says Taiwan is willing to join the bank if invited to do so.
When asked by lawmakers on Thursday, Chang said participation in the AIIB would open up a good channel for Taiwanese investment. Local authorities have said they are keeping a close eye on the AIIB's development.
