BEIJING -- A court in Beijing on Friday upheld the verdict in the case of a wheelchair-bound man who was sentenced to six years in prison for setting off explosives at the Beijing Capital International Airport in July.
The ruling was delivered by the Beijing Municipal No. 3 Intermediate People's Court on Friday morning.
The 33-year-old man named Ji Zhongxing was penalized for causing an explosion in a public place, according to the first-instance ruling by the Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing on Oct. 15.
A native of east China's Shandong Province, Ji set off a homemade explosive device outside the airport's Terminal 3 arrivals exit on July 20, severely injuring himself. A police officer at the scene suffered minor injuries in the explosion.
