Mao Xinyu, Chairman Mao Zedong's grandson, brought his family back to Shaoshan in central China's Hunan province to honor his ancestors upon this year's Qingming Festival, or Tomb Sweeping Day.

Later that night, Mao Xinyu and his family watched the live performance "Mao Zedong Comes from China" at a local theatre, with an audience of roughly 2000 people.

Since its premiere on April 15, 2014, the show has been staged 233 times in the past year. As an epitome of Mao Zedong's contribution to the founding of the People's Republic of China, the show also demonstrates the great efforts of the Chinese people's fight for independence. It has become an important part of the red culture in Shaoshan, Mao Zedong's hometown.

Currently, the show ends with the Founding Ceremony of China in 1949, but Mao Xinyu, also the advisor of the show, says more literary creation is on the way.

On April, 6, Mao Xinyu and his family will pay tribute to the statue of Mao Zedong at the Mao Zedong Square in the downtown areas of the city of Shaoshan.
