MACAO -- The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) signed an agreement here Tuesday to establish a joint working committee to boost Macao's efforts to building a world tourism and leisure center.

The committee will implement the central government's tourism policies on Macao, promote the development of regional tourism integration between Guangdong province and Macao and strengthen the joint tourism promotion.

As an innovation mechanism, the establishment of the joint working committee will help build Macao as a world tourism and leisure center, CNTA Chairman Li Jinzao said.

Macao, as a vital part of the initiative of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, should closely integrate the endeavor of building global tourism center with the role it played in the "Belt and Road," giving a full play to Macao's unique function in national development, CNTA director of Department of Affairs on Tourism of Hong Kong, Macao &Taiwan Liu Kezhi told reporters.

He also hoped the agreement will act as an opportunity to push the building of world tourism center to the institutionalized level in the process of integration of Macao and Hengqin area in neighboring city of Zhuhai of Gaungdong province.
