CHANGCHUN - The death toll from a bus crash involving passengers from the Republic of Korea (ROK) in northeast China has risen to 11, with 17 others injured, local authorities said.
The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon in Liangshui township of Ji'an city, Jilin province, after the bus carrying 26 ROK passengers fell off a bridge.
The latest death was the Chinese driver, who died on early Wednesday morning in a hospital after emergency treatment failed, said An Jinxin, head of the hospital in Ji'an.
The other 10 victims were from ROK, according to the publicity department of Jilin.
Eight of 16 injured people who are being treated in the Ji'an hospital were seriously injured. Among them, the injuries of a 36-year-old ROK passenger is life-threatening, according to An.
A Chinese tour guide injured in the accident is being treated in a hospital in Tonghua city.
The bus, owned by Xinshiji Tour Agency, was heading to Dandong city from Yanji city.
