Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hong Xiaoyong made the remarks on Thursday evening at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam to mark the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China.

The Hong Kong SAR has maintained prosperity and stability and achieved great success. The key is the successful practice of "one country, two systems," the Chinese ambassador said.

The "one country, two systems" principle is very unique and effective, Pham Minh Chinh said. "Hong Kong's strong development since its return to China has contributed to enhancing the role and position of China as well as to the stable and prosperous development of the region."

He believed that the mutually beneficial cooperation between Vietnam and China's Hong Kong SAR will continue to blossom, making active contribution to the development of the good neighborliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.

Tran Van Luat, former Vietnamese ambassador to China, said "Hong Kong has made so many great achievements over the past two decades, standing firm as an important contributor of the region's development, stability and prosperity."
