BEIJING -- "Wanda's investment in Madrid Atletico is a win-win deal and we welcome more Chinese investors to be connected with Spanish soccer clubs," said Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the former Spanish Prime Minister on Thursday.
"The assets in Spainnow are quite good targets for investors. They have high quality and low price, so it's quite an opportunity for Chinese companies to take purchase in Spain," said Zapatero, who is attending the "Silk Road Economic Belt Forum" in Yiwu, Zhejiang province of China.
"Wanda Group is a powerful consortium. Atletico Madrid is a top club. Wanda's investment to Atletico is a double win business and a beneficial cooperation," said Zapatero.
Except for the investment in sports, Zapatero hopes Chinese companies can put in more money in Spain's infrastructure and real estate. He believes Spain can bridge Europe and Africa and also can connect to the Latin America.
"If you invest in Spain, you're opening up a Spanish-speaking market with a population of 500 million, including Spain, Latin America and North Africa," said Zapatero.
