BEIJING -- The newly established cross-Strait exchange fund, which promotes exchange between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, held its first council meeting in Beijing on Wednesday.
Zhang Zhijun, director of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said at the meeting that launching the fund was an important step for peaceful cross-Strait ties, demonstrating the mainland effort and sincerity toward cross-Strait exchange in all sectors.
He called on the council to manage the fund well and to support grass-root exchange.
The meeting was attended by senior officials with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
