BEIJING -- The ninth Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Culture Forum is scheduled to be held Oct. 26 and 27 in Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a mainland official said Wednesday.
With the theme "Deepening Exchange and Cooperation, Jointly Revitalizing the Chinese Nation," the forum will address topics on cross-Strait cooperation in technology, culture and education, said Yang Yi, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, at a regular press conference.
A delegation led by Wu Po-hsiung, honorary chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) Party, will attend the forum, Yang said.
Officials from the KMT, the Communist Party of China and other political parties from the island as well as delegates from financial, cultural and educational fields will attend the forum, Yang said.
Also at the conference, Yang said that the Chinese mainland supports both sides in co-producing TV dramas, and expressed hope for more Taiwan TV dramas to air on the Chinese mainland, and more mainland programs to air on the island of Taiwan.
Yang said that the cross-Strait service trade pact is mutually beneficial and conducive to promoting service levels across the strait.
"We hope Taiwan will complete procedures as soon as possible so as to bring the service trade pact into effect at an early date to benefit people from both sides," Yang said.
