TAIPEI -- Taiwan issued a sea warning on Sunday morning as a strong Typhoon Noul is approaching the island.
Taiwan's meteorological authority said that Noul could pose a threat to the Bashi Channel and the island's southeastern sea areas.
The typhoon was at about 600 kilometers southeast of Taiwan's Cape Eluanbi at 8 a.m. on Sunday, and is expected to move northwest at a speed of 17 km per hour, according to the warning.
As strong winds and waves are expected to appear in the island's coastal areas, the authority advised people who plan to go for seaside activities to take precautions.
