In response to the MERS outbreak in South Korea, Taiwan is also on alert... reminding those travelling to South Korea to take relevant precautions, and holding exercises in preparation for any possible outbreak.
On Wednesday, the health authority in Taiwan issued a yellow travel alert, the second highest level, for those planning to go to South Korea.
The authority says some 2,400 people have cancelled their trips to the country during the summer vacation, which is usually a peak tourist season.
Also on Wednesday, a precautionary drill was held at a hospital in the northern city of Taoyuan. Staff there practised receiving extra patients, as well as placing people into quarantine.
