RIO DE JANEIRO, July 12-- On Tuesday, Brazilian female football player Miraildes Maciel Mota, known as Formiga (Ant), was selected for Brazil's Olympic squad.

On August 3, Formiga will take to the field against China and break three records in doing so.

At 38 years old, Formiga will play in her sixth Olympiad, having begun with the female football squad when women's football was included in the Olympic program at Atlanta 1996.

She will thus beat volleyball player Helia Rogerio de Souza, or Fofao, who took part in five Olympics between 1992 and 2008.

The native of Salvador, in the northeastern state of Bahia, will become the third Olympian to go to six Games, alongside Spanish water polo player Manuel Estiarte and Russian volleyball player Evgeniya Artamonova Estes.

Formiga has won two Olympic silver medals with the Brazilian squad, having lost to the U.S. in the final at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
