Taiwan's travel authority said that starting from May, the island will let tourism agencies from the Chinese mainland apply for what it calls "high-end" travel.
The Taiwan authority said that for tour groups to fit into the high-end category, among other things, the travelers should eat meals that cost more than 400 yuan, spend at least two-thirds of their stays in five star hotels and commute less than 250 kilometres per day.
The high-end tour groups can get their visas in as soon as three days, and are not restricted by daily tourist number limits in Taiwan.
