Taiwan's fire department has concluded the explosion was caused by a powder spray. The Deputy Mayor of New Taipei - Hou Youyi- made the announcement at a news briefing earlier today.
"The fire department has arrived at an initial conclusion on the cause of the explosion. The company behind the party made special stage effects for the event. It requested staff working at the water park spray the powder over the audience area. The explosion occurred when the powder to the left of the stage was ignited by an as yet undiscovered source of heat. Was it a light or somebody smoking? The fire department is still trying to find that out," said Hou Youyi, deputy mayor.
