DAMASCUS -- Three car bombs exploded in a swift succession in Syria's northern city of Hasaka on Tuesday, leaving tens of people wounded and huge property lost, a monitor group and the Syrian official TV reported.
The first explosion targeted a position of the Kurdish Security Forces, Asayish, near the Sinalco roundabout in northern Hasaka, leaving big property losses, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The second car bomb, the Observatory said, tore through an old hospital building, which is being used as a position for the Syrian government forces, near the Kahraba roundabout south of Hasaka, leaving tens of civilians wounded.
The UK-based watchdog group added that a third car bomb went off in central Hasaka, leaving unknown losses.
The Kurds in Hasaka have a large community in the northern and northwestern parts of that city.
Earlier in the day, the Observatory said the Kurdish fighters of the People's Protection Units captured the town of Ain Issa in northern Raqqa from the hands of the Islamic State militants.
The first blast could be a response by the IS against the fresh progress the Kurdish fighters made in the northern province of Raqqa, the de facto capital of IS.
