A group of nearly 200 artists from Chinese mainland will tour around Taiwan's Xinzhu, Miaoli, Changhwa and Kaohsiung to offer local residents the charm of folk culture from April 7 to 21.
The artists, who come from different cities and provinces across China such as Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Tibet, will give various performances and display artistic skills, including calligraphy, photography, painting, and traditional Chinese folk arts, with the sponsorship of Beijing municipal government.
Folk songs and dance performances from Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang will give local people an opportunity to explore the folk art and ethnic group cultures from Chinese mainland.
Chinese opera fans in Taiwan will get a chance to appreciate the most typical traditional Chinese operas, such as Peking Opera, Hebei Bangzi Opera, Kunqu Opera and Sichuan Opera.
Crosstalk comedians, folk musicians, acrobats and magicians from the mainland will also use their skills to entertain audiences.
In addition, a total of 60 photography works will feature Beijing's landscape and customs, as well as mutual exchanges between Beijing and Taiwan.
16 of the photography works will illustrate Beijing's bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Most of the artists are masters in their fields, and some of them had gained worldwide fame in international competitions, according to the event organizer.
