SHANGHAI, Aug. 21 -- The last book in a science fiction trilogy by China's Hugo Award winning novelist Liu Cixin will hit the United Statesin English translation in September, amid positive reception of the first two books.
"Death's End," the third part of Liu's sci-fi trilogy will hit U.S. stores on Sept. 20. The English translation of the entire trilogy made its debut at a bookfair in Shanghai on Sunday.
Tor Books published the first part of the trilogy (English version), "The Three-Body Problem," in November 2014. It won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Novel, making Liu the first Asian writer to win the award, generally considered the highest honor for sci-fi works.
The trilogy depicts an alien invasion of Earth during China's Cultural Revolution. "The Three-Body Problem" centers on a secret military project that enables humans to establish contact with the aliens who are on the edge of extinction.
The novel has sold more than 160,000 copies worldwide as of June this year. The second installment, "The Dark Forest," was published in English in August last year, achieving similar commercial success and critical acclaim.
The trilogy's first and third parts were translated by Ken Liu, while Joel Martinsen translated the second.
"The Death's End" will be available in English in China Sunday.
